Alwaleed Philanthropies (Global), chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud, renewed its commitment to the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) today with a US$15 million contribution, during the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Switzerland. The announcement was marked by HRH Princess Lamia Bint Majed Al Saud, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies, and Bill Gates, Chair of the Gates Foundation.

The new contribution committed through Gates Philanthropy Partners over a three-year period– will support frontline vaccination campaigns, disease surveillance, and rapid outbreak response, helping the programme reach children in the most fragile and conflict-affected settings.

The contribution comes at a pivotal moment for the global effort to end polio, as the programme intensifies operations in the last remaining endemic countries and responds to outbreaks worldwide. With cases of wild poliovirus now confined to just two countries - Afghanistan and Pakistan, sustained political leadership and financing remain essential to protect hard-won gains and ensure that no child is left behind.

Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud, has been awarded the 2025 Chaillot Prize for the Promotion of Human Rights in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). This distinguished honor recognizes Alwaleed Philanthropies’ commitment to advancing humanitarian values, fostering understanding and collaboration, and working toward a world where opportunities are accessible to all, regardless of gender, race, or religion.


The award was presented at Alwaleed Philanthropies’ headquarters in Riyadh, where HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud received the prize from HE Christophe Farnaud, Ambassador of the European Union to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This milestone highlights the foundation’s role as a catalyst for positive social change through strategic partnerships.

Alwaleed Philanthropies Receives 2025 EU Chaillot Prize for Promoting Human Rights in the GCC

Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud, participated in the “Impact of Giving” event, and announced the delivery of 100 vehicles to empower orphans and persons with disabilities, with the aim of enhancing beneficiaries’ mobility, improving their quality of life, and enabling their independence and active participation in society.

The event was held under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Municipalities and Housing and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sakan Foundation, Mr. Majed bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, and was attended by HRH Princess Lamia bint Majed Al Saud, Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies and Member of the Board of Trustees of Sakan, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Mutlaq, Member of the Council of Senior Scholars Committee, His Excellency the Assistant Minister of Human Resources and Social Development for Shared Services, Mr. Ismail Al-Ghamdi, as well as a number of Their Royal Highnesses, Excellencies, and distinguished guests, in addition to leaders from the government sector, the non-profit sector, and the private sector.

Alwaleed Philanthropies Announces the Distribution of 100 Vehicles to Orphans and People with Disabilities under the “Impact of Giving” Initiative by “Sakan”

Alwaleed Philanthropies “Global”, chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal AlSaud, conducted the second Board Meeting of the Alwaleed Cultural Network project at the Pergamon Museum in Berlin, a long-standing partner of Alwaleed Philanthropies. The gathering marks three years since the Network’s founding and reflects its growing impact in advancing international cultural exchange.


The meeting welcomed representatives from the Network’s 13 distinguished members, including the six Alwaleed Bin Talal Academic Centers and a broader group of long-standing institutional partners across the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Egypt, Lebanon, and the United Arab Emirates. The current members are: Alwaleed Philanthropies, Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Islamic Studies Program at Harvard University; the Center for American Studies and Research at the American University of Beirut; the Centre for American Studies and Research at the American University in Cairo; Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Centre of Islamic Studies, University of Cambridge; Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown University; HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Centre for the Study of Islam in the Contemporary World at the University of Edinburgh; the History of Science Museum and Pitt Rivers Museum at Oxford University; the Museum of Islamic Art, Pergamon Museum in Berlin; New York University Abu Dhabi; Turquoise Mountain; and the World Organization of the Scout Movement, which joins as the Network’s newest member. It was represented by Princess Sama bint Faisal bin Abdullah, Chair of the Girls’ Scouting Committee at the Saudi Arabian Scout Association.

Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud, and the Saudi Artisanal Company have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at supporting and empowering Saudi artisans and developing local handicraft products through joint programs and initiatives that advance social and economic sustainability. The collaboration aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals to bolster cultural industries and empower national talent.

The MoU outlines cooperation in implementing training and empowerment programs for artisans, developing products that blend authenticity with modernity, and documenting and showcasing artisans’ work across the Kingdom. The partnership aims to strengthen the visibility of Saudi handicrafts locally and globally and contribute to expanding their market reach.

Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal AlSaud, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority “Monsha’at” during the “Biban” 2025 Forum, held at Riyadh under the theme “A Global Destination for Opportunities.” 

The MoU aims to support and empower the social entrepreneurship ecosystem, as well as small and medium enterprises, through joint programs and initiatives that enhance social and economic impact while enabling entrepreneurs to develop their ventures in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
